Abstract

Most of the people around the world comment upon sexual harassment in workplaces. Even the international organizations define and take in to consideration only sexual harassment in workplaces. However, the fact is women are subjected sexual harassment not only in workplaces but in public places too. Sexual harassment constrains women’s freedom of movement both in terms of status and place. This paper is an attempt to find out situational conditions of sexual harassment in public places. This paper is based on survey conducted among random women frequently using public places and public transport in the city of Chennai. As a part of the research, the law relating to sexual harassment in India has been analyzed
