In medicine, Indap, Indapamide retard, Acripamide, Acripamide retard, Velpamide, Arifon retard are widely used as diuretics, antihypertensive agents. Cases of poisoning caused by its widespread use have been cited in the literature. Taking into account the degree of toxicity of indapamide, it is important to correctly diagnose people for emergency medical care in case of acute poisoning with it. Indapamide is slowly excreted from the tablet and is quickly and completely absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract. The food slightly accelerates the rate of absorption, but the absorbed drug does not have a quantitative effect on the drug. The maximum serum concentration of the drug is determined after about 12 hours after administration. In patients with liver failure, thiazidine diuretic drugs can accelerate the development of hepatic encephalopathy. In cases where symptoms of hepatic encephalopathy appear, indapamide should be canceled.
