Abstract

Synthetic biology has emerged as a promising field for the sustainable production of biofuels and biochemicals. By combining principles from biology, engineering, and computational sciences, synthetic biology enables the design and construction of biological systems with novel functionalities. This paper reviews recent advances in synthetic biology approaches applied to the development of biofuels and biochemicals. It discusses the engineering of microbial hosts, the design of synthetic pathways, and the optimization of bioprocesses for enhanced production efficiency and yield. Additionally, challenges and future directions in the field are addressed, highlighting the potential of synthetic biology to contribute to a more sustainable and renewable bioeconomy.
